Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe and explain the changes in prevaling conceptions and treatments of the economic and political evil and ideological deviances in the period between the revolutionary abolition of capitalism in the Yugoslav socialist state, and its restoration in the Slovene bourgeois state. In the introduction, the key characteristics of the neoliberal morality are highlighted, determining, in the post -socialist context, what is to be understood as wrong and right in the capitalist actuality and socialist past. In the central part, the causes and effects of the introduction of liberal ideas and practices in the Yugoslav self -managing socialism are analysed. Then, the attention is focused on the state control of revolts, protests, and other political threats in the former and actual regime. What is particularly striking is the significant rarity of not only radical but even moderate critiques of the socially harmful repercussions of the capitalist restoration and membership in the EU and NATO.
