Educational Activity in the Field of Criminal Justice and Security Studies - A Review of Development on the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor

Abstract

In 2023, the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of higher education and research in the field of criminal justice and security studies in Slovenia. This contribution is based on a review and analysis of available material on the educational activities of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, and its predecessors. The material includes commemorative publications of the anniversaries of the school`s activities, school statutes, catalogues, and collections of course materials and curricula. The authors present the development of educational activities through six main milestones related to changes in the name of the school; from the Department of Internal Affairs at the Higher School of Administration in Ljubljana, to the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor. In the last part of the paper, current study programs, their content and course materials are presented.
