Enhancing the digital literacy of farmers and herders as well as strengthenin their rural identity,can contribute to Xizang's high-quality development and play a significant role in fostering a sense of Chinese national community. Based on the 2023 survey data regarding livelihood development in Xizang's agricultural and pastoral regions, this study empirically explores the impact and mechanism of digital literacy on rural identity and its underlying mechanisms. The study examines: (1) Currently, digital literacy negatively impacts rural identity among farmers and herders; (2) digital literacy can indirectly strengthen the emotional community of rural areas by increasing farmers' and herders' participation in governance; (3) there is a threshold effect in the relationship between digital literacy and rural identity, wherein the negative impact on rural identity significantly decreases once the digital literacy level surpasses a certain threshold,and (4) the The negative impact of digital literacy on rural identity is more pronounced among middle-aged and elderly individuals, those with lower educational levels, women, and individuals economically underdeveloped areas. Based on these findings, the study makes suggestions are made, including strengthening infrastructure construction, deepening digital empowerment in rural governance, building a tiered improvement system, and promoting precise digital integration policies
