Abstract

The article provides data on crime dealt with by the Slovene police. In 2007 the police forwarded criminal complaints and reports supplementing criminal complaints to state prosecutors for 88,197 criminal offences, which is 2.4% fewer than in 2006. A several year comparison of the number of criminal offences indicates that the steady rise in criminal offences that started in the mid-nineties, has stopped.

In 2007, the number of general, organised and economic criminal offences decreased, while the level of juvenile delinquency slightly increased. The highest increase was recorded in computer crimes. Although the police processed a smaller number of criminal offences, the number of investigated offences was nevertheless higher than the previous year, and consequently the proportion of cleared crimes increased from 40.9% to 43.3%. At the same time, there was also a rise in the proportion of criminal offences detected during police activity.
